Actualy thats how he always speaks. I felt like he was showing another side of himself during the WBC. Sure Koreans misunderstood and took it too serious to the things he said to not only Korea but all the other asian countries as well.

There is a reason he watches what he says. During the WBC he said something that got the Koreans all mad at him. According to Ichiro they took it out of context or more serious then he had intended, and it seemed he felt bad about that.

Ichiro actually speaks English pretty well, but obviously is a little more comfortable in Japanese. I ran into Ichiro at a Sonics game in Seattle, shook his hand and said, "Hajimemashite dozo yoroshiku" I knew that High School Japanese would eventually pay off! What a thrill that was for me!
