I think it all depends on what kind of hardware is available. I've only seen one kind of cabinet like the one they used and that was with a Dragonball Z game , which also had a port to put it on a projector.

I like the setup of the Japanese tournaments where you can't see the opponent. Here in the US, it gets annoying to hear the clicks of the stick it kinda flags your opponent to what moves you will do.
